'Confident our nations will deepen cooperation': Rahul Gandhi's message for Donald Trump, Kamala Harris after US election results

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi congratulated US President-elect Donald Trump on his election victory, expressing confidence in strengthened India-US ties. Gandhi also commended Vice President Kamala Harris for her campaign, highlighting their shared commitment to democratic values and deepened cooperation during the Biden administration.

NEW DELHI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday wrote a congratulatory letter to US President-elect Donald Trump following his massive victory in the recently-concluded elections.
"The people have placed their trust in your vision for the future. India and the United States of America share a historic friendship rooted in our commitment to democratic values. Under your leadership, we are confident that our nations will further deepen cooperation in areas of mutual interest. I also hope that we will continue to work towards expanding avenues and opportunities for both, Indians and Americans," Rahul wrote in his letter.
"I wish you the very best during your second term as President of the United States of America," he added.

Rahul Gandhi also wrote a separate letter to US Vice President Kamala Harris, acknowledging her "spirited" presidential campaign.
"Your unifying message of hope will continue to inspire many. Under the Biden administration, India and the United States have deepened cooperation on issues of global importance. Our shared commitment to democratic values will continue to guide our friendship. As the Vice-President, your determination to bring people together and find common ground will be remembered," he said in his letter.

"I wish you the very best on your future endeavours," he added.

The recent US election results have begun influencing both domestic and international politics, merely two days after the polls closed and well before Trump's scheduled return to the White House.
Earlier this week, the Republican candidate Donald Trump secured a stunning victory becoming the 47th US President. The electoral college tally showed Trump receiving 277 votes, whilst Kamala Harris garnered 224 electoral votes.
