Bihar assembly elections live updates: 30.9% prefer Nitish Kumar as next chief minister

The Election Commission announced dates for Bihar assembly elections. The elections in the state will be held in 3 phases on October 28, November 3 and 7. The Nitish Kumar-led NDA government takes on the Grand alliance led by Congress and Tejashwi Yadav's RJD. Stay with TOI for live updates

The term of the 243-member Bihar legislative assembly comes to an end on November 29. In the last Bihar assembly elections, the JD(U), the RJD and the Congress had contested together under the Grand Alliance and formed the government with absolute majority. However the JD(U) later broke away from the alliance and formed the government in Bihar by joining hands with the BJP.

The voting timing has been increased by one hour. Now, the voting will take place from 7am to 6pm. Earlier, it used to take place between 7am to 5pm.
