TAKIPUR/SANGRUR: Gloom descended on the house of Jaspal Singh after the news of his death in France reached home. Jaspal Singh had migrated to Italy about four years ago and had moved to France some time back.
Jaspal’s killing, along with another Punjabi Mandeep Singh of Kapurthala, completely shattered the small farmer family which had already lost Jaspal’s only younger brother due to electric shock about five years ago.

35-year-old Jaspal is survived by two sons, wife and old parents. Jaspal was working as an electrician at a village near Paris.
“We couldn’t believe when last night we were told by one of Jaspal’’s relative that some unknown persons had killed Jaspal and another Punjabi boy,” said his elderly father Sohan Singh. He said the family had sent him abroad by selling some of the land hoping he will help the family financially. Heartrending scenes were witnessed as Jaspal’s aged mother and his wife sobbed inconsolably after hearing the news.
Jaspal’ cousin Maninderpal Singh said, “We have not got any official information over what happened and who is behind the murder. We only got to know that Jaspal along with six others had gone for dinner. After they returned three of them were attacked at their place. In the attack Jaspal and Mandeep Singh of Kapurthala were killed and the third got injured.”
