"We want women's safety in West Bengal. But in the last election, we saw people looting ballot boxes from strong rooms. Robberies are also rampant in counting centres. So this time, the main issue is women's safety. Security is a key issue in West Bengal. Therefore, we thought that to ensure women's safety, our democratic right, our vote, must be protected first. Therefore, when the counting of these five assembly constituencies takes place here, we women will continuously guard outside the strong room..."
"Some TMC members from IPAC are asking the counting officers, both from the Central Government and the State Government on WhatsApp to send them their documents and that their ID card will be attached to the document. This is fake. The person who will be at the counting table, has to personally go to the strong room, where they bind the ID card themselves... But throughout West Bengal, there is a fake officer who has the ID card of a Central Government officer and in many places, they are using contract labour... This will enable duplicity of votes... I request that close attention be paid to this, a videography be done and the report should be sent to the central office... Many ROs and District Magistrates in West Bengal are playing this game here... 60 officers in Bankura were called and told to send their documents via WhatsApp... This is happening in every district, every district..."
We raised problems about movements inside the strong room without our representation. The Election Commission admitted the mistake and assured it would not happen again. Another issue was that the postal ballot strong room had no CCTV or live streaming screen outside. We pointed this out, and today, cameras have been installed. When movement occurred inside, our agent was present, and we could monitor it on the screen. Our workers are keeping watch round the clock.
