PANCHKULA: The last day of campaigning for the assembly elections scheduled for October 15 highlighted various moods of the candidates contesting for various parties.
On one hand, a few candidates tried making full use of the last day, while on the other a few were seen relaxing and sharing lighter moments with party workers.
Party offices, however, appeared more like a fish market due to the huge rush of party supporters and workers. Even women brigades were seen taking the lead, campaigning for their party candidates. Claiming their seat in the district, candidates seemed pretty confident about their victory.
MLA DK Bansal,
Congress Pitching in at the right time, Congress candidate D K Bansal preferred to show his strength on the last day of campaigning. With large number of supporters in cars behind the MLA, he did a road show across Panchkula.
Bansal also managed to garner support from former Delhi chief minister Shiela Dikshit as she came to appeal for votes. Getting her by his side, Bansal seemed a bit relieved as he managed to impress his supporters at the right time.
Bansal, however, forgot to teach his supporters a few lessons on safety as large number of them, including women, were seen sitting on the edges of the car - which could have been fatal.
Gyan Chand Gupta, BJP
The BJP candidate seemed in great hurry. Making best use of the day, Gupta managed to attend over ten meetings before six in the evening. Moreover, he didn't hesitate to make strategies with his colleagues over a cup of coffee in his office.
Interestingly, women brigade was much more enthused and took lead in his campaign. Women were seen wearing Modi masks, making the best use of the Modi wave. Riding on four wheelers, this brigade did a road show in the city, ensuring victory for Gupta.
Kulbhushan Goyal, INLD
Where others were seen slogging hard on the last day, the INLD candidate was seen sitting and enjoying lighter moments with party workers. With smile on his face and a cup of tea in hand, Goyal was surrounded by party workers.
According to him, his hard work from past two months would yield him positive results. His supporters were although seen planning for last hour campaigning, the candidate continued to address his party workers in a round table chat.
Ravinder Rawal, HJC
The Haryana Janhit Congress candidate was seen offering food to his supporters. After addressing his supporters in various colonies, Rawal spent some time with his party workers. The candidate appeared quite sure about his win as people were seen enjoying sweets in his office. His supporters continued to raise slogans and also were seen appealing to the people in the markets on the last day.
Vinod Bagai, Independent
One of the nine independent candidates contesting elections from Panchkula, Bagai managed well between his campaigning schedule in the various parts of the city and also he kept visiting his office in Sector 8 where large number of supporters were waiting for their leader. He even had lunch with party workers and didn't seem stressed.
Advocate Latika Sharma, BJP, Kalka
Making best use of the last day, BJP woman candidate from Kalka met her supporters at various places. She claimed of changing the picture of Haryana and asked people to have faith in PM Narendra Modi's policies.
