HYDERABAD: JJ Shobha crashing to the ground with a sprained knee during the javelin event but still returning for the 800 metres against medical advise will remain etched in memory for ages.
"Shobha is actually the most talented athlete I have coached and her strength of the mind is phenomenal. So is her ability to shut-out pain," said Shobha''s coach Tella Srinivas Rao.
Rao, who was with her during the pre-Olympic camp at Patiala, told The Times of India that he actually believed Shobha was good enough to finish in the top six.
"I was confident that she would notch up at least 6,400 points. Shobha too was confident. She must be heart-broken," the coach who watched the 800 metres sprint on television said.
