Iran is hardening its position on the fragile ceasefire, warning that continued Israeli strikes in Lebanon could unravel the agreement and trigger a broader regional response. President Masoud Pezeshkian described Israel’s operations in Lebanon as a “blatant violation” of the truce, accusing Tel Aviv of acting in deception and non-compliance. His warning “our hands remain on the trigger” signals that Tehran is prepared to escalate if the situation continues. The stance was reinforced by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who outlined that Lebanon and the wider “Resistance Axis” are inseparable from the ceasefire framework. This effectively expands the scope of the agreement beyond US-Iran terms, tying it directly to regional allies like Hezbollah. Iran’s messaging suggests a strategic shift from a bilateral ceasefire to a multi-front condition. Any escalation in Lebanon could now justify retaliation across other theatres, increasing the risk of a wider conflict.
