India Prepared To Meet Power Demand Despite West Asia Crisis: Ministry of Power
Amid the ongoing West Asia crisis, the Ministry of Power has assured that India is well-prepared to meet its electricity demand without disruption. The ministry said gas-based power plays a limited role, with around 2.5 GW operating steadily and an additional 8 GW used during peak demand periods such as heatwaves. It highlighted that the Tata Power Mundra plant will soon add 4,000 MW through imported coal. The ministry also pointed to upcoming wind energy capacity and battery storage projects, expressing confidence that the crisis will not impact India’s power supply or overall energy security.
