A pregnant woman giving birth to one child, twins or, in rare cases, triplets, is heard of. But Ek Don Teen Chaar, as the name suggests, presents a rarer than rare instance of a woman pregnant with quadruplets - four babies. Anyone who has seen the posters or trailer of this film can easily connect the dots and figure out what the crux of the story is.
Through Ek Don Teen Chaar, debutant filmmaker Varun Narvekar presents the story of a couple Sameer (Nipun Dharmadhikari) and Sayali (Vaidehi Parshurami) through the emotional journey of pregnancy. The audience's co-passengers on this journey is a family of six - Sameer, Sayali and their soon-to-be-born quadruplets.
The film takes a non-linear approach in the way it unfolds. In one scene, the audience may be watching the couple's interaction about a pregnancy kit and in the next, they will be taken into flashback to the couple's college life. The intertwined scenes could have made the film confusing, but Narvekar beautifully merges them together to create an interesting narrative. One that keeps the viewers engaged throughout.
How the story unfolds is predictable. But the instances that lead to the happy climax make it interesting. It also presents common instances from the lives of married couples well. Add to it the performances and you have a heartwarming watch ready to engage you this weekend.
Nipun plays the innocent, considerate husband well, while Vaidehi conveys the emotions of a pregnant woman beautifully. Karan Sonawane makes a lasting impression while Yashraj Mukhate's music stays with you.
All in all, Ek Don Teen Chaar is a film that delivers what you expect from it and leaves a smile on your face.
