The President of France, Emmanuel Macron is fawned over by many for his handsome looks and beautiful accent. From his smile to his eyes, people love many features of the 48-year-old world leader. However, now the internet is falling head over heels in love with young Emmanuel Macron.

A post going viral on X shared photos of Macron, who became the youngest French president in history at the age of 39. And netizens are happily shocked to find out just how handsome the French leader was during the days of his youth.

Shared by an X user named Francois Valentin, the post has pictures of the President from the year 1999 when he must have been as young as 21 or 22. "Time flies! This is what Emmanuel Macron looked like when the EU-Mercosur trade negotiations started," said the caption of the post which has received over 782K views and 8.6K likes.

People on the internet have been swooning over Macron's youthful looks. From 'How I Met Your Mother' actor Jason Segel to Uruguayan association football manager Diego Forlan, they have compared him to numerous personalities, while fawning over his beauty.

"Imagine looking this good and still picking an older woman with children and then never having your own," lamented one X user.

"On the left he looks exactly like Jason Segel" and "He looks like Diego Forlán" wrote many.

EU and Mercosur are set to finalise a long-pending free trade agreement in Asuncion, concluding negotiations dating back to 1999. The signing is scheduled for January 17 in Paraguay. Mercosur is a major South American trade bloc created by Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay in 1991 to promote economic integration.

The deal is EU's largest free trade agreement by tariff cuts, eliminating over €4 billion in duties on EU exports. However, France has been leading opposition to the deal, warning that reduced trade barriers with Mercosur countries could hurt domestic agriculture.

What to know about Emmanuel Macron?

Macron was born in Amiens, France on December 21st, 1977. Born Emmanuel Jean-Michel Frédéric Macron, his father worked as a professor of neurology while his mother was a physician.

He has been married to his wife Brigitte Macron since 2007. Brigitte was his high school drama teacher and by the age of 17, Macron had claimed he would eventually marry her.

Professionally, he worked as a finance inspector with the Ministry of Economy from 2004 to 2008. He also worked as an investment banker at Rothschild & Cie Banque and moved on to serve as a deputy secretary general to former President François Hollande.

In 2014, he became the Minister of Economy, Industry and Digital Affairs and in 2016, he resigned from the post to run for the President of France. The same year he also debuted as an author with his book 'Revolution'. Since 2017, he has been serving as the President of France.
