Married thrice, all to IAS brides: MP bureaucrat Avi Prasad's personal life grabs attention
In Madhya Pradesh, an IAS officer’s wedding has become a big topic of discussion. Senior officer Avi Prasad has married for the third time. What has really caught people’s attention is that all three of his wives have been IAS officers.
Because of this, the news is being talked about not just inside government offices but also on social media.
As reported by India Today, on February 11, the 2014 batch IAS officer got married at Kuno National Park. His bride, Ankita Dhakre, is a 2017 batch IAS officer. She is currently working as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of State Administrative Services.
As soon as photos from the ceremony appeared online, the wedding started getting attention.
Avi Prasad is from Sitapur in Uttar Pradesh. He first cleared the UPSC exam in 2013 and joined the IPS. In 2014, he secured an All India Rank of 13 and became an IAS officer.
He also comes from a political family. According to the report, his grandfather, Tambeshwar Prasad, also known as Baccha Babu, served as a minister in the government of former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh.
Before this, he was married twice.
His first wife, Riju Bafna, is currently serving as Collector of Shajapur in Madhya Pradesh, as reported by DNA. The two reportedly met in Delhi while preparing for civil services. Their marriage ended in divorce after a few years.
He later married Misha Singh, a 2016 batch IAS officer. According to the India Today report, after marriage, she moved to the Madhya Pradesh cadre. Their marriage lasted around four years. She is now serving as Collector of Ratlam and took charge in 2025.
Over the years, Avi Prasad has worked in several important positions. He has served as District Panchayat CEO and as Collector in different districts.
When he was Collector of Katni, he received attention for efforts to address malnutrition, according to the report. At present, he is serving as Chief Executive Officer of the Employment Guarantee Council in Madhya Pradesh.
Marriages among IAS officers are not unusual. But in this case, the fact that all three of his spouses are IAS officers has made this personal update stand out.
While Avi Prasad continues to focus on his administrative work in Madhya Pradesh, his unique personal story of marrying three fellow IAS officers has captured public attention and sparked conversations far beyond government circles.

As far as I am aware, if ANY Central Govt Employee, let alone an IAS Officer, takes a second wife, it would be against Rules 21(1) and 21(2) of the CCS (Conduct) Rules. explicitly prohibiting a government servant from entering into or contracting a marriage with a person who has a spouse living, or having a spouse living, from entering into or contracting a marriage with any person. This rule applies to all government servants, regardless of gender or religion. UNLESS, he has taken specific permission for it from the Govt; applied and received IN WRITING. This man has married TWICE after the first marriage This can lead to disciplinary action, including dismissal from service. Even the Second and Third Wives, BOTH of them IAS Officers, have committed this violation. But, this report is INCOMPLETE and raises more questions than answers.Read allPost comment
