Indian influencer's visit to real-life Doreamon house and school sparks nostalgia among netizens: 'Goosebumps'
In after-school TV watching sessions and modern-day dreams, numerous children in India have been obsessed with Doraemon. A robotic cat who can be your best friend and also has every gadget in the world to make your life easier, who wouldn't want him in their life? Even those who have grown up find themselves tuning in to new episodes and watching movies in theatres when it comes to Doraemon.
The anime and manga series that originated in Japan and began airing in India in 2005 has remained one of the most loved cartoons aired on the country's television for kids, even earning prestigious awards. Recently, a video created by an Indian influencer visiting the real-life Doraemon house and other locations has taken viewers into the tunnel of nostalgia.
Sarthak Sachdeva shared a video saying he travelled nearly 6,000 kilometres to Japan to visit what he described as the real-life inspiration behind Doraemon. In the clip, he turned the camera toward himself and excitedly said that he had travelled all the way from India to Japan just to see "this house."
Then the camera panned to scenic shots of narrow lanes, compact homes and peaceful streets, immediately transporting the viewers into the popular neighbourhood that they had come to know pretty well. As he walked through the neighbourhood, Sachdeva pointed out things audiences recognised, such as a road Nobita walked down countless times in the series while heading to school, meeting friends or rushing to the playground.
He also showed the school that Nobita, Shizuka, Gian, Suneo and Dekisugi went to along with the sunset that was iconic for the evening scenes of the cartoon. "Doraemon locations in real life," captioned the video.
While the anime is set in Tokyo, many fans associate its visual style with the real-life location of Fujio's hometown Takaoka.
One user shared how they went around to find one delicacy that the characters consumed, red bean jam bun. "So true I did the same - I even went looking red bean jam bun ! - When the shopkeeper did not understand - I said doraemon eats it - he laughed and told where to get it," they shared.
"I still watch it with my kids.. first with my elder son n now with daughter..it's my kids dream too to visit it..will show this video to them" added another.
