5 times people had a near-death experience, and survived to reveal their chilling stories!

Near-death experience is a profound, often life changing experience, where an individual has seen death closely (in case of a heart attack or trauma), and has been brought back to life. While sometimes, many people don't feel a thing when they are transitioning between life and death, others recall an out of body experience, and even spiritual encounters. Here are 5 most chilling near-death experiences we found (Source Reddit/Yahoo)

Traumatic accident

"I almost died after being hit head-on by a semi-truck. When I was in the hospital half-alive, I went between blackness and a white-grey haze. I felt no pain, even though I had both my femurs broken. One was a compound fracture with the bone through my leg. The blackness that soon overtook me felt like a void. I can't describe it other than it was like sleeping but without dreaming."

Angry, confused, and grey

"When I was in 6th grade, I nearly died while pounding at the ice from underwater. I actually don't recall what I felt very well. I know I was angry. I realized I was going to die, but I didn't want to accept it. All I recall after falling through the ice was anger. It felt like forever, just punching the ice. I couldn't find the hole I fell in from either. It was so cold, the coldest I've ever been. Right as things were greying out, I tried one more time. I pushed off the ice to go down. I found a rock, or maybe it was a stick. I can't remember. I hit the ice a few more times before it broke. Walking back for nearly an hour in the cold and snow and in wet clothes probably almost killed me too, in hindsight. The whole experience and the month afterward of being sick in bed are a blur. Just a lot of shivering."

Almost drowned

"I almost drowned in a local river that has strong currents the closer you get to the center of the water. I got caught in the current and couldn't swim out, nor could I grab something to hang onto. I couldn't hold my breath any longer, so death began to sink in once my mouth was full of water. The natural instinct is to open your mouth for air, but it mind-fucked me knowing all I was gonna get was water. At some point, I see someone dive underwater near me and pull me out. It was my cousin who had to walk me back to the rest of the party with my family. I was in a daze for the rest of the day. My dad freaked the fuck out if I remember correctly. Nobody knew I was seconds from being dead. I don't like strong currents unless it's a water park."

5/6

Utter calm

"Nearly 21 years ago (I'm nearly 26), I had severe anemia. I lost 24 hours of my life because I succumbed to anemia. Before I passed out, I was fighting to stay awake with all my might. Then, a sense of both utter peace and utter calm came over me. Even at that tender age, I knew that day would be my last, and I accepted it. Then, I wake up in a hospital with one burning question, 'Is this heaven?' The strangest thing about coming from a nearly dead state to breathing is it changes a person. You experience utter peace. Then, like a flick of the light switch, you're out."

This is how it ends...

"I was working inside a manhole, and I was wearing a harness connected to a safety rope. The person performing the hole watch tied me to a truck when he got called to another part of the work site. (I assume so that the rope wouldn't fall in the hole.) The truck started to drive off with me tied to it. I screamed for help while I was pulled straight up to the top of the manhole opening. As the harness was getting tighter and tighter, I breathed out, but I couldn't breathe in as the harness got tighter. It was like being bear-hugged by a very strong person. I remember feeling very calm and thinking, 'This is how it ends,' before the truck stopped and backed up. Then the slack let in, and I fell 15 feet to the bottom of the sump. "
