In the battleground of nature, some animals have evolved mechanisms to both eat and avoid getting eaten by other animals. This production of chemical toxins makes them venomous in the flora and fauna world. Let’s take a look at some of the most venomous animals in the world.
Box Jellyfish
Many consider the box jellyfish to be amongst the most deadly animals as it has been attributed to many mysterious deaths of swimmers in many parts of the world, and strikes at the heart, nervous system, and even the human skin cells.
Gila monster
The deadliest and most painful touch of all, the bite of the Gila monster is considered to be the most excruciating of any vertebrate. This lizard produces the venom in its salivary glands and is ready for an attack.
Cone snails
We often see snail shells washing up on the beach and think that it is a marine snail, but cone snails slither over rocks and fill their venom in a cone-shaped figure known as the harpoon. It can paralyze the human body so one must brace itself.
Inland taipan
The list would be empty without the inclusion of snakes. The inland taipan has the highest median lethal dose of venom of any snake and is usually very shy, but very toxic too.
Stonefish
Its mottled camouflage and habit of lingering on muddy or rocky bottoms have a sting of incredible pain which can even be lethal. However, many people also consume the fish after removing their venomous spines.
Shrew
Fluffy and lovely shrews are very nasty and toxic. They mainly paralyze the human body and subdue their prey to protect themselves. The duct at the base of their incisors and grooves along their teeth.
Platypus
These duck-billed platypus defend themselves with venom-delivering ankle spurs and kicks that paralyze and kill smaller animals and humans. They do look adorable, but their defense mechanism is very strong.
European mole
These adorable toxic mammals reside in a pile of soil and use their toxic saliva to paralyze and subdue their prey, which is mostly the earthworms. This elusive creature is best known for leaving unsightly piles of soil on your lawn but is highly venomous.
Sydney funnel-web spider
The funnel web spider produces a potent venom and is extremely toxic to humans and other primates. Its deadly venom could be life-threatening and saving too, as it gives time-buying for heart attack treatment.
Slow loris
The venom of this adorable creature contains an oil that is collected on the upper arm and is mixed with saliva. It licks the gland and then rubs the activated venom into its fur as a chemical defense and then quickly bites.
