The Girlfriend: Dheekshith Shetty to be the boyfriend of Rashmika Mandanna

Rashmika Mandanna is riding high on the success of her recent collaboration with Ranbir Kapoor in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s action-drama film ‘Animal’ and is now gearing up for a lead role in Rahul Ravindran’s upcoming movie, ‘The Girlfriend.’

The film's producers recently revealed that Dheekshith Shetty, known for his role in the acclaimed film ‘Dia,’ will be the male lead. This announcement was made on Shetty's birthday, accompanied by a special glimpse from the film.

In this video, Dheekshith's character Vikram is being pulled back by his friends from a fight. He is trying to hit someone and asking his friends to release him. He is portrayed as a rage-filled college boy and an angry youngster. Rashmika introduces him as her boyfriend and refers to him as the Virat Kohli of their college team.

Written and directed by Rahul Ravindran, ‘The Girlfriend’ is the 51st film produced by Allu Arvind’s production house and marks Rashmika’s 24th film. Filming for the project began in early December, and a teaser video was shared to generate excitement around the movie's premise.



Dheekshith Shetty made his debut in 2020 with the successful Kannada film ‘Dia,’ which was later remade in Telugu, Marathi, and Hindi. He has since appeared in Telugu films like ‘Mugguru Monagallu’ and Dasara, gaining recognition in both the Kannada film industry and television.

Rashmika Mandanna continues to be a sought-after actor in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil cinema. She recently appeared in the Tamil film ‘Varisu’ alongside Thalapathy Vijay and the Hindi film ‘Animal’ with Ranbir Kapoor, which featured a star-studded cast including Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, and Tripti Dimri. Additionally, she is set to reprise her role as Srivalli in the upcoming Allu Arjun starrer, ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule.’
