Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Anna Ben, Parvathy Thiruvothu, and Nimisha Sajayan share heartbroken posts in light of wrestler Sakshi Malik's resignation
South actresses Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Anna Ben, Parvathy Thiruvothu, and Nimisha Sajayan have shown their support for wrestler Sakshi Malik by sharing an emotional moment from her press conference after announcing her retirement from wrestling.
Sakshi decided to retire from wrestling in protest following the election of Sanjay Singh as the president of the Wrestling Federation of India. Sanjay Singh is closely connected with former president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, against whom female wrestlers made allegations of sexual misconduct. Sakshi Malik expressed her disappointment, stating that appointing a loyalist of Brij Bhushan as the new head of the federation would not bring about any meaningful change. Tearfully, she placed her boots on the table while making the announcement of her retirement.
In response to this emotional moment, Samantha Ruth Prabhu shared a broken heart emoji on her Instagram story. Malayalam actresses Anna Ben and Nimisha Sajayan also posted a picture of Sakshi wiping her tears, accompanied by the same broken heart emojis. Parvathy Thiruvothu shared the same image along with a post discussing the difficulties and consequences that women face in a country after speaking out about assault.

Wrestlers have been protesting against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh since the beginning of 2023, alleging sexual harassment of female grapplers, including a minor. Two FIRs have been filed against Brij Bhushan, and he has been booked under the POCSO Act. Wrestlers like Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik, and Bajrang Punia protested on the streets for 40 days continuously, and recent events have deeply saddened them. Sakshi addressed the issue of the absence of a female coach and the lack of security in the field.
