Harish Shankar says ‘Ustaad Bhagat Singh’ has more responsibility as Pawan Kalyan is Deputy CM; Confirms no item song
The 'Gabbar Singh' duo, Pawan Kalyan and Harish Shankar, reunite for 'Ustaad Bhagat Singh'. Director Shankar feels a heightened responsibility due to Pawan Kalyan's current role as Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. He confirmed no 'item songs' to maintain decorum, promising a decent yet heroic portrayal for fans.
The ‘Gabbar Singh’ duo is reuniting with the upcoming film ‘Ustaad Bhagat Singh’ as Pawan Kalyan will once again be seen playing a cop under the direction of Harish Shankar. Their previous film turned out to be a huge hit, due to which fans have expectations for the film. Recently, the director shared about the feeling of having a strong responsibility for working on this project.

Harish Shankar feels more responsibility now

Since the release of ‘Gabbar Singh’ in 2012, a lot has changed. Pawan Kalyan, apart from his cinematic outing, now serves as the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Even though fans expect makers to reinvent the magic of ‘Gabbar Singh’ with ‘Ustaad Bhagat Singh’, Harish Shankar shared that they are a little more responsible compared to the latter film’s days, while speaking with Variety India.

He added that they have taken on some responsibilities due to Pawan Kalyan’s political career. “Since our previous film, ‘Gabbar Singh,’ was an industry hit, people have a lot of expectations from the combination. So, I do keep that in mind. At the same time, sir, there are definitely certain responsibilities that have increased because of his designation as a Deputy CM of Andhra Pradesh,” he said.

No special song In the film

Gabbar Singh, which earlier featured a special song, ‘Kevvu Keka’, has also made fans expect a similar kind of single to be seen in ‘Ustaad Bhagat Singh’.
However, the filmmaker shared he has not featured any special songs to maintain the decorum of a Deputy CM. He said, “So, when fans are askingf me on social media, ‘Sir, do we have an item song?’ They are comparing the film with ‘Gabbar Singh.’’ So, I said, every song will be an item, but there won't be an item song because somehow I want to maintain the decorum of a Deputy CM. Now, he can't run behind the item girl and sing songs. At this point, I don't think that will be his thing to do now.” Lastly, he said that watching Pawan Kalyan will be a feast for the fans to watch his aura and heroism with decency. “So, keeping his decorum at the same time, I'm known for my mass and heroism elevation and because of Pawan sir's success, his image is skyrocketing and now is in stars. So, for our audience, it will be a feast to watch that aura and heroism. So, we are a little more responsible compared to our ‘Gabbar Singh’ days,” he added.‘Ustaad Bhagat Singh’ also features Sreleela and Raashii Khanna in key roles. It is set to clash with Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ as both films arrive in theares on March 19.
