On the director's birthday, here's looking at five of his most well-known films one must watch

One of the industry's most famous directors, Harish Shankar was born on March 31, 1979. He is one of the most successful filmmakers, both commercially and critically. Growing up, Harishwas always interested in theatre and films. He began his theatre career in Telangana, where he worked for the drama companies, Seeta Nilayam and Lalitha Kala Mandiram. After acting in several stage plays, he started working as a screenwriter. The director's debut film Shock was out in 2006. The film was a disaster that is up to standard in every way, from good acting and character-building to a solid storyline and suspense.

Mirapakay

The 2011 action-comedy film received immense acclaim from cine-goers. Mirapakay follows an Intelligence Bureau officer, who arrives in Hyderabad to find an international don. During this undercover operation, he joins in a college as a Hindi lecturer and falls in love with his student. The film sees Ravi Teja, Richa Gangopadhyay, Deeksha Seth, Nagendra Babu, Prakash Raj and Rao Ramesh. It's an extraordinary feat for Harish Shankar to receive such a box office hit during his initial career.

Gabbar Singh

The 2012 action-drama garnered enormous success at the box-office. Gabbar Singh was a remake of the 2010 Hindi film Dabangg, which featured Salman Khan in the lead role. The Telugu remake featured Pawan Kalyan in the titular character, and it won several awards for the Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Music Director, and Best Stunt Choreographer. The Harish Shankar directorial sees Pawan Kalyan as nonsense yet brave cop who has been inspired by a Hindi film character Gabbar Singh takes down the local goon who wants to join politics.

Subramanyam For Sale

The romantic action comedy-drama that released in 2015 revolves around a money-minded Subramanyam who heads for the US to earn money meets Seetha and comes to know that her boyfriend dumps her. He then agrees to accompany her to India, where her family misunderstands them to be married. Sai Dharam Tej, Regina Cassandra, Adah Sharma, Brahmanandam, Suman, Nagendra Babu, Ajay and Rao Ramesh essayed the main characters in the film.

Duvvada Jagannadham

The 2017 film featured Allu Arjun, Pooja Hegde, Rao Ramesh, Subbarajum, Chandra Mohan and Murali Sharma in lead roles. The plot of the film revolves around an undercover officer DJ, who is tasked with bringing down a real estate crime lord, and a corrupt minister. However, he faces many obstacles in his quest and must overcome them all. It was the movie that proved the box office stamina of Allu Arjun as well as Harish Shankar was on his way to major stardom in Tollywood.

Gaddalakonda Ganesh

Gaddalakonda Ganesh is a remake of the 2014 Tamil film Jigarthanda that revolves around a young and aspiring filmmaker who endeavours to do more research for his debut film by following a dreaded gangster. The film starred Varun Tej, Atharvaa, Pooja Hegde and Mirnalini Ravi in the lead roles. You will find action, romance, drama and music in the Harish Shankar directorial film. With the success of Gaddalakonda Ganesh, Harish has achieved another milestone.
