Mahesh Babu’s cult psychological thriller ‘1: Nenokkadine’ is all set to hit the theatres again, commemorating the birth anniversary of legendary actor Krishna. Directed by Sukumar, the movie starring Kriti Sanon has gained a cult following throughout its time.The film is set to re-release on May 31. The production banner took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle and wrote, “Rockstar Gautham is ready to set the screens on fire again. #1Nenokkadine Re-releasing on May 31st, 2026”

A psychological mystery in the story

Talking about its plot, Mahesh Babu plays the character Gautham, who is a rock musician with schizophrenia who believes three men killed his parents, and his search to uncover the truth about them and his past.

The film becomes a mystery about Gautham’s identity, memory, and his family’s hidden history, as it looked to be just a revenge drama. For this film, Mahesh Babu appeared in a completely new look with a stylish makeover and fit physique. Many important scenes were shot in London.

Interestingly, before finalising Kriti Sanon as the heroine, the makers first approached Kajal Aggarwal. But she could not do the film because of earlier commitments.
Later, Tamannaah Bhatia was also considered, but she too missed the project due to date issues. After auditioning a few newcomers, Sukumar selected Kriti Sanon for the role. This movie marked her acting debut. After doing a few Telugu films, Kriti shifted her focus to Bollywood and later became one of the top heroines there.

The film also featured Nassar, Pradeep Rawat, Anu Hasan, Kelly Dorji, Sayaji Shinde, Posani Krishna Murali, Srinivasa Reddy, Ravi Varma, Anand as Gautham’s father, Raghu Babu, and Gautham Ghattamaneni as young Gautham. Actor Naveen Polishetty also appeared in a small cameo role.The music for the film was composed by Devi Sri Prasad.The movie was released during Sankranthi on January 10, 2014. When the film was first released, it received mixed reviews due to its unique and fresh take from audiences. Then, with time, it went on to become a cult classic.
