Interesting facts about Rajinikanth's 'Kabali'

Rajinikanth is truly the superstar of superstars and he has proven it yet again with his recently released film 'Kabali'. If 'Sultan's' day one collection is too much to take in for you then wait for the numbers this Pa Ranjith film has collected. The opening day collection of 'Kabali' saw a gross figure of whopping Rs 53 crore approx which is a feat in itself. The film has not only smashed Sultan's opening day records which was around Rs 36.5 crore, but has also become the highest grossing film of the year in India and overseas. With just few days post its release, this Rajinikanth-starrer is all set to break even more records in future and mind you, the weekend box office numbers are still awaited.

Kabali is an upcoming Tamil gangster-drama film written and directed by Pa. Ranjith. The film stars Rajinikanth as the title character, whilst Taiwanese actor Winston Chao, Radhika Apte, Dhansika, Dinesh Ravi, Kalaiyarasan, Riythvika and John Vijay star in other pivotal roles. Here's a look some of the interesting facts of the much awaited film.

Kabali is Rajnikanth's 159th film and he will be playing the character of a don. Rajini's previous avatar as a don was in 'Baasha', in which he portrayed a stylish Mumbai-based don.

The story of Kabali is about a 55-year-old don, who has lost 25 years of his life, and how he regains whatever he had lost in those 25 years. The teaser shows Rajinikanth walking out through a corridor, with a group of prisoners in the background. This indicates that he has been in jail for 25 years, as he is later seen in the teaser asking someone to go and tell that he has come back.

Kabali will be the first Indian movie to be released in Malay. It will also be released in Telugu, Hindi and Japanese, and will get a Chinese release in a couple of months.

To avoid people from learning the story of the film, the scenes were shuffled and sent for the dubbing process.

According to Ranjith, Rajinikanth shot for 75 days with his white beard, which will stand as the biggest highlight of the entire film.

The flashback episode of Rajinikanth is revealed to be a racy, power-packed part of the film.

The film was initially edited to about 3 hours, which was later trimmed to 2 hours and 30 minutes.

The intro scene for superstar Rajinikanth is said to be more than one-and-a-half minutes in slow motion. This is said to be done anticipating the lengthy cheers that the Superstar is expected to get in the theatres.

The much-hyped song 'Neruppu Da' that went viral will come in the end reel of the film.

The car drift shown in the teaser of the film was performed by Rajinikanth himself without any dupe. The whole team, including the stunt choreographers, were stunned by the the Superstar's driving skills.

In an interview, director Ranjith has said that producer Thanu and Soundarya Rajinikanth requested him to edit the climax a little and have a happy ending for the fans. Later, Rajinikanth himself had called from the US and asked him not to change the climax. This has given rise to speculation that Kabali (Rajinikanth) might die in the end of the film.
