Today’s audiences want an edge-of-the-seat experience, says Ragini

Actress Ragini Dwivedi is teaming up with debutant director SR Rajan for the Tamil-Kannada bilingual Email, which is set against the backdrop of online gaming scams. Ragini’s character gets trapped in the web of a mafia group after playing an online game, and the subsequent problems she faces form the crux of the story.

In a chat with us, Ragini describes her role as ‘very interesting and challenging’. About her character in the film, she says, “The character is a small-town girl who is struggling for the basics, and the film shows how she goes through various situations and emotions when she is put into unnecessary trouble.” The actress also adds that she had to give multiple kinds of emotions within her performance. “There are different dimensions within this one role; there’s a homely side, a glamorous side, and there’s action. I loved shooting every part of it.”

She adds, “I think audiences are going to like the action part, because, I think, for a long time, there’s been no female action film in Tamil cinema. You will be sitting on the edge of your seat, thinking about what will happen next. I think that’s what the audience wants today.”

“The contemporary audience is going to like this film because everything’s on our phones today. Everyone everywhere is playing online games, and the problem that one can face through that is the story of the film,” states director Rajan.
