The film failed to impress audiences across the country in any language. Earlier, Kamal Haasan had announced that the film would be released on OTT 8 weeks after its release. This decision showed his confidence in the film.National Multiplex Association fines 'Thug Life' teamHowever, after the film failed in theaters, the 8-week contract was canceled and the OTT release date was also changed. Based on this agreement, the National Multiplex Association had allowed the film 'Thug Life' to be released in their theaters. According to The Hindu, the National Multiplex Association has imposed a fine of Rs. 25 lakh on the film crew due to breach of contract.'Thug Life' OTT rights lessenedAdditionally, Netflix had offered Rs. 130 crore for the OTT rights of ‘That Life’. But after the film failed, they reduced the amount to Rs. 90 crore.It is reported that in the subsequent negotiations, both sides signed an agreement for Rs. 110 crore. Box office failure and OTT contract changes have complicated the status of ‘Thug Life’.
