Tamil singer Dhee spoke about the unique bond she shared with her stepfather and music composer Santhosh Narayanan as she recently called working with him, “the most fun and the most stressful” experience. She also described the ‘Enjoy Enjaami’ composer as her mentor, best friend and biggest musical influence.

In a conversation with Hindustan Times, talking about working with Santhosh Narayanan, Dhee said it feels like working with her best friend. She shared that they enjoy making music together and spend a lot of happy moments during recordings and discussions.

At the same time, she also said they fight a lot while working. Dhee explained that the experience is both fun and stressful for her. She said, “It’s the most fun and the most stressful at the same time.”

Dhee talks about her mother Meenakshi Iyer

Dhee also spoke about her mother, Carnatic singer Meenakshi Iyer, who has the toughest job because she has to handle both of them. The singer said she feels lucky to call Santhosh Narayanan her stepdad, dad and best friend at the same time. She shared that their bond is very special even though they argue often.
Dhee said Santhosh Narayanan has had a huge influence on her life and career. She called him her mentor and said she learned many things from him over the years.

Growing together in music

She also revealed that both of them were starting their careers around the same time. While she was very young and learning music, Santhosh was also trying to find his place in the film industry. Dhee said the family learned many things together during that phase.Dhee was only 15 when she sang ‘Disco Woman’ composed by her stepfather. Since then, the two have worked together on many popular songs like ‘Kaattu Payale’, ‘Rakita Rakita Rakita’ and more. She recently released her new single ‘Vari Vari’.
