Lokesh Kanagaraj SLAMS rumors of unfollowing Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan on social media
Lokesh Kanakaraj has been making headlines of late, especially for his involvement in Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’ and also for allegedly unfollowing Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. While it's true that he is part of Vijay’s final film, ‘Jana Nayagan’, the latter is not.
"There were rumours that I had unfollowed Rajini sir and Kamal sir (on social media). Just look at where they are (indicating they were at the top). I consider it my good fortune that I, having come from a rural place, got an opportunity to work with them both,” the director said.
The rumours emerged after he reportedly backed out of the much-awaited Rajinikanth-Kamal Haasan film.
"My mom does not even know what Twitter (X) is. She does not know what follow or unfollow mean. But she called me up and asked me 'Why did you unfollow Rajini sir and Kamal sir?' That is because they don't even believe me but believe you (the media),” he added.
“I was in talks to do the film with Rajinikanth sir and Kamal Haasan sir. They both were quite eager to do a film together, and that was a very big opportunity to me, because that’d mean that they’re acting together after 46 years,” Lokesh Kanakaraj said.
He further added that he worked on a story for one and a half months. “I wrote sincerely and gave my best to make a film starring both the legends. I narrated an action script, which they both were quite excited about. However, they noted how they’ve been doing a lot of action films of late…even their upcoming films like Jailer 2 and Kamal sir’s film with Anbariv masters are action films. So they wanted to do a light-hearted film together. I cannot write that kind of film, and that’s why I backed out of that project.”
The director further added that the media should verify before writing such reports. "If you come across any such sensitive information, please check with me or someone from my team before putting out reports on such sensitive information. This is my request,” he concluded.
