Box office story of 'Coolie'
Even with criticism 'Coolie' did very well in theatres. People came mainly to watch Rajinikanth. The film had a big cast. Many viewers said the writing felt routine. Some said the story did not connect. Still the film made huge money. Lokesh thanked the audience for their support.
Upendra shares his reason
Actor Upendra also spoke about 'Coolie'. He said he did the film only for Rajinikanth. In an interview with Galatta Plus he said “I did the role in Coolie for Rajini sir. It is something I never even dreamed. I am a big fan of him. I admire his performance his talent his philosophy and even his life.” His words showed respect and love for the star.
Role became bigger later
Upendra also shared another detail. He said his role was very small at first. He revealed “Even if it was just a single shot standing close to him I would have been happy. At first I had only one fight scene in Coolie. Later they made changes in the story.” He said working with Rajinikanth itself was enough joy.
'Coolie' may have flaws. But it clearly showed the power of Rajinikanth.
