Superstar Rajinikanth’s film with director Cibi Chakaravarth, tentatively titled ‘Thalaivar 173’, is the talk of the town. The upcoming Tamil film is said to feature Rajinikanth in the role of a tailor. The superstar’s return to grounded layman characters has undoubtedly increased the anticipation around the film. Reports now suggest that the upcoming film is a remake of a Hollywood film. According to a report by Moneycontrol, ‘Thalaivar 173’ is said to be inspired by the Hollywood film ‘The Outfit’, released in 2022. If the speculations are true, the Rajinikanth starrer would be one crazy ride for his fans. The English film ‘The Outfit’ is a gripping psychological crime thriller starring Mark Rylance, with an ensemble cast including Zoey Deutch, Johnny Flynn, Dylan O'Brien, Nikki Amuka-Bird, and Simon Russell Beale. The film is helmed by Graham Moore, the Academy Award-winning writer of The Imitation Game. The gripping thriller revolves around an expert tailor who must outwit a dangerous group of mobsters in order to survive a fateful night.TOI has ranked the film 4 stars out of 5, and the review reads, “The Outfit' is one of those movies where all of the action takes place within the confines of a cutter's shop. However, following Sundar C’s exit, Cibi Chakravarthy came on board. The film is backed by Kamal Haasan’s production house. Anirudh has roped in to compose music for ‘Thalaivar 173’. The makers are planning to release the film for Pongal 2027.
