​‘Mullum Malarum’

This is a powerful brother–sister story. Rajinikanth plays Kaali, a proud winch operator who loves his sister, Valli, more than anything. A new engineer, Kumaran, comes to the workplace and clashes with Kaali. An accident changes Kaali’s life, and he loses his job and his hand and the film shows love, pain, pride, and change in a very real way and also it is one of Rajinikanth’s most emotional early performances.

​‘Aarilirunthu Arubathu Varai’

Rajinikanth plays Santhanam, the eldest son in a poor family. After his father dies, he starts working as a child and sacrifices everything for his younger siblings and he pays for their studies and dreams of a better life for them. When they become successful, they forget him and treat him badly. The film is about sacrifice, family duty, and loneliness and also it is a deeply moving drama and a classic.

Rajinikanth plays Surya, a man raised in the slums who hates injustice. He befriends Devaraj, a powerful don with his own ideas of justice. Their friendship is strong and emotional, like brothers. A young district collector named Arjun tries to stop them using the law. Later, Surya learns painful truths about his past and his mother. It is full of loyalty, guilt, and love, not just action. Rajinikanth’s performance carries great intensity and feeling.

Padayappa is an engineer who sees his family lose wealth and status. He stays calm, rebuilds his life, and protects his loved ones and his cousin Neelambari, once in love with him, turns into a fierce rival after feeling insulted. Also their clash is intense, but the feelings are very human, pride, love, anger, and regret. The film has big emotions, memorable scenes, and strong women characters. It is also one of Rajinikanth’s most famous dramas.

​‘Kabali’

Rajinikanth plays Kabaliswaran, a Malaysian Tamil worker who becomes a gang leader. He spends many years in jail and comes out to find his life broken. He searches for his wife, who was believed dead, and for his lost daughter and the story is about identity, dignity, and the pain of separation. The scenes where he meets his daughter are tender and emotional. The tone is mature, with sadness and hope together.
