Two heroines in one space and there are bound to be fireworks - sooner or later. But actress Samvrutha Sunil argues, "It is not right to assume that there will be ego clashes whenever there are two actresses involved." The actress, who is working alongside
Mamta Mohandas for the Malayalam film Arike, says, ""This is my first film with Mamta and we are both very comfortable with each other. In fact, we also help each other a lot. Since voice is being recorded live on the sets, it requires us to be well prepared. So Mamta and I sit together for rehearsals too. We have become great friends."" She also lashes out at the 'misconception' that two girls can never remain friends, "Most of my very good friends are girls. They have stood by me through good times and bad times."
The actress adds that she is all set to surprise the audience with her character in Arike.
"Arike's Kalpana is like no other character I've portrayed. She is unpredictable, deeply in love and a bit confused. Like every other Shyamaprasad film, Arike is a story with a lot of depth. Through Kalpana, Shanthanu and Anuradha (the other characters) Malayalam cinema will ponder into the emotions like love and friendship."
Samvrutha's last release Swapna Sanchari has done rather well at the box office. My fans were rather sceptical about me essaying the role of a mature woman with a teenage daughter.
But I was confident. It was director Kamal's movie afterall, and I had a very important role in it too. I'm glad I took the risk as the effort has paid off. People have not stopped congratulating and praising my work in the film," she says.
So what else is keeping her busy? "A K Sajan's Asuravithu will hit the theatres soon. I essay the role of a boat conductor named Marti. The King and The Commissioner with actors Mammooty and Suresh Gopi is yet another ambitious project in which I will be seen as a smart and bold journalist. Also, I've committed to a Lal Jose movie which will be shot completely in Dubai," she signs off.
