Veteran Malayalam filmmaker Sreenivasan passed away today at the age of 69 after a prolonged illness. He had a huge career in the film industry writting, directing and also playing lead roles. let’s take a look at some of his best screenplays and where you can enjoy them on online streaming platforms.

‘Odaruthammava Aalariyam’

The movie is a 1984 Malayalam classic written by Sreenivasan. It is directed by Priyadarshan, it was a commercial success of the box office. The story of the film is about a middle-aged family man known for his womanising ways. On the other handm three college students are seen trying to win over this daughter. ‘Sanmanassullavarkku Samadhanam’

This film is a comedy-drama starring Mohanlal playing the role by the name Gopalakrishna Panikkar. He is seen as a landlord burdened by debts accumulated from his sister’s weddings. To make money to clear his debts, he then tries to evict his tenants so he can sell the house, but they resist. As they refused to vacate the place, the film then takes on comedy and drama, making it a delightful watch. The movie is available to stream on JioHotstar.

Directed by Sathyan Anthikkad, the movie was a huge success. The film was later remade in multiple languages, including Tamil as ‘Illam’, Telugu as ‘Donga Kollu’, Hindi as ‘Yeh Teraa Ghar Yeh Meraa Ghar’, and was made twice in Kannada as ‘Yardo Duddu Yellammana Jatre’ and ‘Ananda Nilaya’.

'Nadodikkattu'

In this film, Sreenivasan not only wrote the screenplay but also played a lead role. The film circles around the misadventures of two penniless youngsters, Ramdas and Vijayan played by Mohanlal and Sreenivasan respectively. They are seen as two who are looking for work in Kerala. Despite their efforts, they are unable to get decent jobs and dream of migrating to Dubai for a better life. As the film progresses, they only find themselves ending up in Chennai. The film includes humour and drama, it has comical clashes between the leads and how they handle all the household chores.

'Pattanapravesham'

The movie is comedy drama film releasein 1988. Directed by Sathyan Anthikad it again stars Mohanlal and Sreenivasan as the key figures of the film. They are seen as two friends by the names Dasan and Vijayan. Here they are seen playing the role of police officers who are solving a murder case. Making it a comical detective film, the two showed very confused, making mistakes during the case. However, always try to act smart. The two’s silly action and banter add that hilarious touch to the film. As the film progresses further, they meet people who sell drugs and the plot intensifies.
