Dheekshith Shetty is in Vagamon and is busy with the filming of Oppees, his debut Malayalam film. The actor who has fast made a name for himself in Kannada and Telugu, is thrilled that he’s checked off yet another industry on his career wish list and at a time when Malayalam cinema is thriving.

Dheekshith tells us that the cultural similarities between his native Dakshina Kannada and Kerala, have made this a smooth transition. “Dakshina Kannada and Kerala share a strong similarity. For example, Theyyam or Naaga Paattu which is a revered ritual in Kerala, and is known as Bhootha Kola and Nagaradhane back home in Karavali. So, I was able to connect with the subject in my Malayalam film instantly,” he says

Talking about his upcoming role, Dheekshith says it was important that his debut dealt with a subject that he resonated with. “I play Sunny, a boy who lives abroad and is lost in the past. A chance encounter with a stranger reveals certain aspects about his life which then leads him to his birthplace, Kerala.
