According to reports, Amazon Prime Video has bagged the post-theatrical digital rights of the
Rishab Shetty directorial for a staggering Rs 125 crore. This makes it one of the costliest OTT deals for a Kannada-origin film, second only to KGF 2. The deal includes streaming rights across all languages, ensuring the film’s reach will be truly pan-India.
Trailer to drop in September
As reported by Pinkvilla, fans won’t have to wait long to get a glimpse of the much-awaited prequel. The theatrical trailer of Kantara: Chapter 1 is expected to drop around September 20, just in time to build momentum for its Gandhi Jayanti release. With as many as 20 VFX studios from across the globe working on the film’s visuals, the makers are promising a grand cinematic experience.

Kerala release confusion put to rest
Meanwhile, there were several reports saying that the release of the Rishab Shetty starrer has been banned in Kerala. This had caused a lot of worry among the Kerala audiences.
As reported by Mathrubhumi, however, the Film Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala (FEOUK) has clarified that no such ban has been imposed. The issue had stemmed from disagreements over revenue sharing, with distributors pushing for a two-week share of 55%, while FEOUK only approved one week. “Discussions are still ongoing, and no final decision has been made to stop the release,” FEOUK executive member Bobby explained.
With all the rumors surrounding Kerala release cleared, reports around the trailer release circulating, the fans are counting days to October 2, to witness the sequel of Rishab Shetty's masterpiece movie.
