The legacy left by the late businessman, reportedly worth Rs 30,000 crore, is now at the centre of a bitter inheritance battle. Karisma’s children, daughter Samaira and son Kiaan, have approached the Delhi High Court claiming that their stepmother, Priya Kapur, allegedly forged Sunjay’s will to make herself the sole beneficiary. Amid this controversy, Sunjay’s sister, Mandhira Kapur, has stepped forward in support of Karisma and her children, becoming a key voice in the ongoing family and legal dispute.

Who is Mandhira Kapur?

As reported by News18, Mandhira Kapur is a second-generation award-winning entrepreneur and the Managing Director of SMIC Autoparts Pvt. Ltd., a company founded in 2012 with its global headquarters in London. She is the daughter of the late industrialist Dr. Surinder Kapur and Rani Surinder Kapur. She is married to Luke Smith and has two children, Nyna and JaiVee.Mandhira has another sister, Superna Motwane, and was estranged from Sunjay for four years due to what she called a “silly sibling squabble.” Reflecting on their relationship, she had said on Instagram, “My brother and I may not have spoken for the last 4 years, a silly sibling squabble escalated to crazy levels due to egos and natural bullishness, however, that will never take back what we were and what we had.”

Mandhira highlights family's struggle to grieve

Mandhira told Hindustan Times that the family has been unable to properly grieve Sunjay’s death because of the ongoing legal battle. She explained, “It’s been horrible. It’s like I keep saying, it’s a nightmare we want to wake up from, and we’re not being allowed to even grieve.”

Mandhira expresses shock over children’s exclusion

Mandhira expressed disbelief that her brother’s children were allegedly excluded from his will. She expressed, “We’ve not been allowed to grieve since this (Sunjay’s death) has happened, and it’s been a constant shock every day. My mother did not want to take this to court, and we still hope that Priya would come forward and give us what we are asking for. It’s been unfortunate that his children have been cut off from his will.She further added, “We’ve always had good relationships with Karisma and her kids. If anyone knew my brother and his relationship with his children, this is the most bizarre thing that has come out — that they’ve been cut off and Priya is the sole beneficiary of this will.”

Mandhira claims her mother was forced to sign documents

Speaking to CNN-News18, Mandhira also alleged that her mother was locked in a room by board members of Sona Comstar and made to sign documents without understanding them.She went on to reveal, “I was there, banging on the door, not knowing what was going on. I know the doors were locked. My mother told me. She was in a grieving space. She did not know what was going on. I spoke to her, she told me, ‘I have signed something. I did what I was told. I don’t know what I have signed’. She was very upset. Since then, we have been trying to find out what my mother signed. We are not getting any answers.”The coming weeks in court will be crucial for Karisma’s children as the battle over Sunjay Kapur’s Rs 30,000 crore estate continues.
