Veteran actor Paresh Rawal will be in the city today to host his play Dear Father at Daly College auditorium.
Veteran actor Paresh Rawal will be in the city today to host his play Dear Father at Daly College auditorium. Rawal, who has associated with the cause of cancer, told us in a telephonic conversation, “I have come to Indore before for the play Kishen Kanhaiya and I cannot forget the alertness that Indoreans presented during the play. Speaking about the initiative, Rawal said, “When we get fame and people begin to follow us, it becomes our responsibility to associate with such noble causes. Our names generate awareness among people, which as a celebrity gives us a satisfaction.” Rawal, who will be playing a double role in this two-hour long play, is quite excited to be in Indore again.@TOIEntertainSaid he, “Theatre is my first love. Initially, it took us days to practise and bring the show on to the stage, but now, with experience, I just take 3-4 hours of rehearsals and I am good to go.” Ask him about the theatre culture in the city, and Rawal remarks on the insufficient infrastructure and sources for theatre artistes to showcase their talent.
“We are blessed to be in Mumbai and be a part of numerous theatre groups and plays with sufficient sources, but there are cities where theatre is facing an inglorious death. With absolutely no options for auditorium, basic amenities like lights, mics, etc, theatre artistes are being ignored completely. Still, people crave to be a part of it.
