Ila Arun REACTS to Arijit Singh’s retirement; recalls ‘Fame Gurukul’ days; shares, ‘He knows what he is doing'
Arijit Singh shocked everyone after he announced his retirement from playback singing last week. Many people from the film and music world reacted to his decision. Now, singer Ila Arun has shared her thoughts. Speaking about the past, she went back to Arijit’s Fame Gurukul journey.
Talking about his elimination, she recalled, “Judges – Javed bhai, Shankar sa and KK – had evicted him. And the day he got eliminated, I had said that Arijit hi hai lambi race ka ghoda.”
Reacting to his big decision, Ila Arun said, “I was shocked! Every good Bollywood song of the past few years are sung by him. His young audiences are so upset. He broke the hearts of so many girls.” She also spoke about his recent post, where he mentioned monotony. “He has been singing the same kind of songs and so, he may want to pursue something else,” she explained.
Ila Arun strongly believes Arijit knows what he is doing. She said, “He isn’t a part of any rat race. He’s deeply spiritual. He must have hit a saturation point. He must have seen how other singers began copying him. Maybe, he thought that enough is enough."
Ila Arun remembers ‘Fame Gurukul’ days
During a conversation with News18, Ila Arun mentioned the time when she used her Veto Power to save the ‘Channa Mereya’ singer from getting evicted from the show ‘Fame Gurukul’ thrice. “I enjoyed a veto power in Fame Gurukul. I saved him from getting evicted thrice," she said. Ila Arun shared that she was sure she was about his talent even when he was very young.Talking about his elimination, she recalled, “Judges – Javed bhai, Shankar sa and KK – had evicted him. And the day he got eliminated, I had said that Arijit hi hai lambi race ka ghoda.”
