Akshay Kumar shares an inspirational picture on completing one year of ‘PadMan’
Akshay Kumar is one of the most hardworking actors in Bollywood. The actor has garnered applause for his work in movies like ‘Toliet: Ek Prem Katha’, ‘Rustom’, ‘Gold’ and ‘Gabbar is Back’.
One of the hit films of Akshay ‘PadMan’ that released last year was recorded hit at the box-office and did good business. The film was based on Twinkle Khanna's book ‘The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad’.
Today, the ‘PadMan’ completed a year. On the occasion, Akshay posted a picture of himself holding a sanitary pad and captioned, ‘A film which literally made me step out of my comfort zone but I’d do it again without batting an eyelid if it helped further the cause of menstrual hygiene. #1YearOfPadMan’.
In the film, the actor portrayed the character of Arunachalam Muruganantham, from Tamil Nadu who made low-cost sanitary pads available for women in rural India.
On the work front, Akshay has many films in his upcoming list such as Anurag Singh's ‘Kesari’ opposite Parineeti Chopra, the film is slated to release on March 21 this year. Then he will star in ‘Mission Mangal’ along with Taapsee, Sonakshi Sinha, Vidya Balan, Sharman Joshi, Kirti Kulhari and Nithya Menon in pivotal roles. The film is slated to release an Independence Day.
Later, Akshay would be seen in ‘Good News’, ‘Housefull 4’ and Rohit Shetty’s next cop drama ‘Sooryavanshi’.

Akshay Kumar started off the year with a bang with 'PadMan' which praised by audience and critics alike. Now, the film has added another feather in its cap after enjoying a great run in India.
The R Balki directorial will now be screened at the Tokyo International Film Festival. Lead man Akshay took to Twitter to share the amazing news with his fans and he also shared the poster of the film in Japanese. The poster is identical to the film’s actual poster except the movie’s title and credits are all written in Japanese. He captioned it as, “Here’s the Japanese poster of PADMAN!Excited for the film to be screened at the Tokyo International Film Festival!! #PADMAN #TIFFJP.”

This cybercrime was recorded just weeks after Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus ‘Padmaavat’, starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor was streamed live on the platform. While the ‘Padmaavat’ makers were quick to file a complaint with the cyber cell of three states, there was no such action taken by the makers of ‘PadMan’.
Although the latest film to be targeted by piracy, it is not the first as films like ‘Udta Punjab’, ‘Sultan’, ‘Raaz Reboot’ and others were also been leaked online, some even before its official release.
It has not been affirmed if this leak has affected the film’s box-office collection. ‘PadMan’ has collected an estimated Rs 58.25 crore at the domestic market within just 6 days of its release.

She, however, said that she differs with producer Twinkle Khanna while making it clear that male political leaders cannot be made the villains while exerting on the fact that in 2015, under a male prime minister Narendra Modi, the first-ever national guideline for menstrual hygiene was dedicated to the entire country. She requested everyone to read those guidelines and help the teachers, Anganwadi workers, and others to enlighten the girls and women all around by striking a conversation on the same. Katrina Kaif joins Akshay Kumar's Padman Challenge, poses with a sanitary pad
The latest one added to the list is none other than Katrina Kaif. The actress was nominated for the challenge by Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma. Akshay Kumar’s ‘PadMan’ will not clash with Sidharth Malhotra’s ‘Aiyaary’
The release date of the Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee starrer has now been shifted to February 16th, making ‘PadMan’ the only movie to release this weekend. The reason behind ‘Aiyaary’s extended delay is believed to be because of the modifications suggested by the Defense Ministry.
'Aiyaary' will now share the box-office with 'Dil Junglee' that stars Tapsee Pannu and Saqib Saleem.

As the film gears up for its big release on February 9, Akshay and the makers are leaving no stone unturned to promote the film. Apart from speaking up about the importance of mensural hygiene, the actor is calling upon his B-town friends to join the discussion by simply posing with a pad. Recently, the actor took to Twitter and posted a picture of himself holding a sanitary and challenged Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt and Indian Cricket Team captain Virat Kohli to do the same and called it the #PadManChallenge.
Accepting the challenge, Alia shared a picture of herself holding a sanitary pad as he exercised in the gym. She even nominated her fellow gym partners for the same. 'Padmaavat' director Sanjay Leela Bhansali grateful to Akshay Kumar for postponing 'PadMan'
In the wake of this unexpected announcement, Akshay held a press conference at his residence, where he addressed the media along with filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Talking about the sudden postponement of the film, a grateful Bhansali said, "I'll be grateful to him (Akshay) for a lifetime for what he has done. I think the industry and the world can understand the place in which we live, is to be with each other, stand by and respect each other. And, I think the fraternity would be proud of what Akshay has done today. This kind of gesture would have been quite impossible in this industry."
Bhansali was questioned about the ongoing controversies surrounding his film, but the filmmaker chose to avert them by excusing himself for the conference.
When National Award Winning actor, Akshay was quizzed about his film being postponed, he said, "Yes, we are going to do that as that's what my studio and Kriraj's decision was. I requested them too because there's no point in clashing. I can completely understand that his need for this date is more than mine."
In addition, Akshay was even asked why both films could not release at the same time, to which he said, "They have a reason to release this time as it is essential for them. The point is not about fighting and clashing. Both can release at the same time and business too can happen as there are nearly 4500-5000 theatres and we both can share it, but at the moment the stake of their movie is much higher than mine and Bhansali is a great person and a dear friend. So he asked and I went with it."
Akshay Kumar's 'PadMan' will now hit theatres with Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee's 'Aiyaary' on February 9.
