Why Sunny Deol accepted 'Border'? Dharmendra's THIS film is the REASON - Deets inside

At the launch of the song “Ghar Kab Aaoge” from 'Border 2' Sunny Deol got emotional as he recalled his late father Dharmendra. The event was held at Longewala in Jaisalmer with BSF jawans present. Sunny spoke about how watching his father’s film 'Haqeeqat' inspired him to do 'Border' in 1997. He said, “I did Border because when I watched my father’s film 'Haqeeqat'. I loved it deeply. I was very young then. And when I became an actor I decided that I too would do a film like my father’s.”

Tribute to the armed forces

Sunny also addressed the jawans. He thanked them for making him feel like part of their family ever since Border released. He acknowledged how the original film inspired many young Indians to join the armed forces. Sunny’s connection with the soldiers has remained strong over the years and he made sure to express his gratitude in front of them.

Overwhelmed with emotions

While speaking at the event Sunny looked down and was visibly moved. He dded, “Aur aab main zyada kuch keh nahi paunga kyunki thoda mera dimaag hila hua hai.” (And now I won’t be able to say much more because my mind is a bit shaken.)

Continuing his father’s legacy

The past few months have been emotional for Sunny and his family after the passing of Dharmendra in November. Sunny also attended the premiere of his father’s last release which is 'Ikkis'. He was visibly moved as he posed in front of his father’s poster. He shared conversations with friends like Salman Khan during the premiere.

About 'Border 2'

The upcoming film is directed by Anurag Singh. 'Border 2' has Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh, and Medha Rana. The film is a war drama and will release in theaters on January 23.
