When Tamannaah Bhatia talked about unconditional love: 'Love is not a transaction... it can happen as many times as you decide'
Following her reported breakup with Vijay Varma in early 2025, Tamannaah Bhatia shared a mature perspective on love, defining it as unconditional, “one-sided,” and an “inside job” rather than a transactional relationship. She expressed a desire to become a better life partner and to find joy in companionship, stating she is working on herself. In a one-year-old conversation with Luke Coutinho, Tamannaah drew a sharp distinction between love and relationships, saying that most people misunderstand the essence of both.

“I think people confuse what love is and what a relationship is,” she shared, adding that the moment expectations enter, love risks turning into a “transaction.”“The moment you have expectations and you want people to do what you want them to be doing, then that's just business... just transaction,” she said.

'Love has to be unconditional'

Tamannaah emphasized that love, in its purest form, cannot be conditional. According to her, it’s an emotion that originates within an individual rather than something dependent on another person’s actions.“Love is an inside job. It's how you feel for someone,” she explained, adding that two people can love each other individually, but that doesn’t mean the relationship itself defines love.

Letting people evolve

One of the most striking takeaways from the interview was her belief that love must allow freedom and growth.“If I have to love someone, I have to let them free. You don’t love by projecting your ideas onto that person,” she said. She also acknowledged that people evolve constantly, and loving someone means embracing every version of them.“You're going to have to love the versions that are going to come out,” she added.

'You can love more than once'

Breaking the conventional cinematic idea of “one true love,” Tamannaah stated that love isn’t limited to a single experience.“Love is not something that happens only once... it can happen as many times as you decide,” she said, noting that the emotion is created internally, not dictated by external forces.
