When Raveena Tandon dismissed Akshay Kumar dating Rekha: 'He wanted to run away from her'

Actors Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon shared screen space in multiple films and were frequently linked together in the early '90s. While speculation about their romance was widespread, Raveena later disclosed that they began dating in 1995 but chose to keep their relationship private.

By 1996, rumours of Akshay’s alleged closeness with veteran actress Rekha surfaced. However, Raveena later dismissed these claims, stating that there was no truth to them and that Akshay was, in fact, keen on maintaining his distance from Rekha.

Raveena and Akshay’s relationship reportedly blossomed after their collaboration in the 1994 blockbuster 'Mohra'. According to Raveena, they were engaged by the late '90s. However, during the filming of 'Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi' in 1996, media reports about Akshay and Rekha’s alleged affair gained momentum. Addressing the controversy, Raveena clarified the situation.



In an old conversation on Reddit, she stated, “I don't think Akshay ever had anything to do with Rekha. As a matter of fact, he would run away from her. Akshay tolerated Rekha because of the film. At one point, she wanted to get lunch dabbas for him from home. That's when I put my foot down. I felt it was taking things a bit too far.”

Eventually, Raveena and Akshay parted ways in 1998. Following their breakup, Akshay entered into a relationship with actress Twinkle Khanna, his co-star from International Khiladi. Their relationship progressed, leading to their marriage in 2001. The couple welcomed their first child, Aarav, in 2002, followed by their daughter, Nitara, in 2012.

Meanwhile, Raveena went on to marry businessman Anil Thadani. Together, they have a daughter, Rasha Thadani, and a son, Ranbirvardhan Thadani.
