When Dia Mirza revealed her step-daughter Samaira calls her by first name instead of 'Maa'

Actress Dia Mirza earlier opened up about her unique relationship with her stepdaughter, Samaira, during an interview. Married to businessman Vaibhav Rekhi, Dia embraced the role of a stepmother following her divorce from Sahil Sangha. The couple’s union brought Vaibhav’s daughter Samaira into Dia’s life, along with a new dynamic within their blended family.

In an earlier interview with News18, Dia shared that despite her close bond with Samaira, the young girl has always addressed her by her first name rather than ‘maa’ or ‘mumma.’ Dia revealed, “She hasn’t called me maa. There is no expectation from her to call me ‘maa,’ ‘mumma,’ or ‘mother’. She has a mother who she calls ‘mumma’ or ‘mom’. She calls me ‘Dia’.” Dia further humorously noted that her son, Avyaan, has also picked up this habit and sometimes calls her ‘Dia mom.’


The actress expressed her happiness with this arrangement, highlighting that the relationship between her and Samaira has developed organically and without pressure.

On the professional front, Dia Mirza is currently seen in the TV series ‘IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack’. Created by Anubhav Sinha and Trishant Srivastava, the show is getting only mediocre reviews from the viewers.
