Sunil Dutt and Shabana Azmi’s bond
For those unfamiliar, Sunil Dutt and Shabana Azmi had worked together in the 1984 film 'Yaadon Ki Zanjeer'. Their professional camaraderie grew into a warm friendship off-screen, which made this introduction even more meaningful. Sunil Dutt, who remains an iconic figure in Indian cinema and public service, passed away on May 25, 2005, due to a heart attack at his Bandra residence. His untimely death occurred just a year before Sanjay completed his jail term related to arms possession charges. Married to actress Nargis, Dutt’s life was marked by remarkable contributions both in films and in social work.

Shabana Azmi, who has had an illustrious career spanning over 100 films and five National Awards, continues to be a force in the entertainment world. After making her impactful debut with 'Ankur' in 1974, she has remained a respected name in both cinema and theatre. Most recently, Shabana was seen in the web series ‘Dabba Cartel’, created by Shibani Dandekar Akhtar, Vishnu Menon, Gaurav Kapur, and Akanksha Seda, and directed by Hitesh Bhatia.
