Rohit Shetty credits Mukesh Chhabra’s casting vision amid 'Dhurandhar’s' record-breaking run
Filmmaker Rohit Shetty, known for blockbuster entertainers such as 'Golmaal', 'Singham', 'Chennai Express' and 'Sooryavanshi', recently singled out casting director Mukesh Chhabra while speaking about pan-India cinema. His comments came in the context of Aditya Dhar’s 'Dhurandhar' and its remarkable box office run.

Why Rohit Shetty spotlighted casting while talking about pan-India cinema

At a recent public event, Shetty was asked whether he would consider directing a pan-India film featuring actors from multiple regional industries. His response was measured and revealing. “I’ll think about it,” he said.

Instead of discussing budgets or scale, Shetty shifted focus to casting choices. He stated that he would only consider such a project if Mukesh Chhabra handled the casting. Pointing to Chhabra’s work on Dhurandhar, Shetty suggested that the film’s wide acceptance began with how its actors were chosen.

Rohit Shetty’s Instagram post

Shetty’s appreciation for Dhurandhar was not limited to the stage. In December, he shared a detailed Instagram post celebrating the film and its makers. He wrote:“TAKE A BOW ADITYA DHAR AND TEAM… YOU HAVE CREATED A MONSTER… RANVEER MERE BHAI… ‘APNA TIME AAGAYA’… HAPPY TO SEE AKSHAYE GETTING THE LOVE AND RESPECT AS AN ACTOR HE DESERVED FOR YEARS… YOUR JOURNEY FROM URI TO DHURANDHAR AS A PRODUCER AND DIRECTOR IS INSPIRING…”

Rohit Shetty’s last directorial was 'Singham Again', starring Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, Arjun Kapoor and Deepika Padukone. The filmmaker also recently confirmed in an interview with ANI that he will now be focusing on 'Golmaal 5'. “I would like to take a break from the cop universe.
