Rishi Kapoor's death anniversary: Glimpses of the man behind the actor as shared by actress-wife Neetu Kapoor

Today marks the death anniversary of actor Rishi Kapoor, who breathed his last in 2020, after a long battle with cancer. From making a debut with Raj Kapoor’s ‘Mera Naam Joker’ to bagging the title of the Most Romantic Hero during the early years of his career, fans and celebs continue to remember him for his contribution to Bollywood. But behind the scenes, Rishi was a family man, glimpses of which can be seen on actress-wife Neetu's Instagram account. Here’s a recap of some of those loving memories...

Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor fell in love on the sets. They appeared in ‘Kabhi Kabhi’, ‘Rafoo Chakkara’, ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ and more. The two later tied the knot on January 22, 1980. Later, the couple was blessed with a daughter, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, and son, Ranbir Kapoor. While Ranbir went on to follow in his father’s footsteps, Riddhima is a successful entrepreneur.

On Rishi Kapoor’s demise, a heartbroken Neetu took to social media to write, “End of our story” with a picture of the late actor.

Neetu once treated fans to a picture from the archives, wherein a young Rishi Kapoor could be seen twinning with her. She captioned it, “Wish me luck as you wave me goodbye Cheerio, here I go on my way With a cheer, not a tear, in your eye Give me a smile, I can keep for a while In my heart while I'm away ️”.

While shooting for ‘Jug Jug Jeeyo’ last year, Neetu Kapoor opened up about going back to work after Rishi Kapoor’s demise. “My first flight, in these scary times !! Nervousss for this journey !!�� While Kapoor Sahab, you aren’t here holding my hand, I know you are with me .. #RnR thank you for encouraging me to do this..” she revealed in a post. “Back on set after so many years. To new beginnings and the magic of the movies. I feel YOUR love and presence. From mom, to Kapoor Sahab, to Ranbir always being with me .. now I find myself all by myself, feeling a little scared , but I know you are always with me ️” she dedicated a post for him.

Today, on Rishi's first death anniversary, Neetu penned down an emotional post. Sharing a monochrome picture, she wrote, “All of last year has been of grief and sadness around the world for us maybe more as we lost him .. Not a day has gone by when we have not discussed or reminisced him as he was an extension of our existence .. sometimes his wise advice:: his wise cracks : his anecdotes !! We have celebrated him all year with a smile on the lips as he will stay in our hearts forever we have accepted life will never be the same without him !!! But life will go on ....”
