For Laapataa Ladies actress Pratibha Rannta, it’s often the scent of roses that interrupts her morning jogs through her neighbourhood, Versova. Flowers, she says, have a way of gently pulling her into the present, much like they do at the end of a long day.
Pratibha says, “Flowers, especially roses, make me feel special,” she shares. “Whenever I look at a bunch of them, it reminds me of my childhood — of warmth and happiness. Materialistic things can never make me feel that way. I love buying flowers for myself. If I’ve had an amazing day at work, I’ll stop by a flower shop on my way home, pick up some roses, and place them next to my paintings. Love means a lot to me, but right now my focus is on work.”

With Valentine’s Day tomorrow, the actress says red roses, for her, are the ultimate symbol of love. “They’re a solid, concrete sign of love,” she says. Ask the actress if the current life phase were a rose colour, what would it be? “Sunshine yellow,” she answers. “That’s my current phase — hopeful, optimistic, and looking forward to
the future.”
