'Madhubala' biopic: Mukesh Chhabra dismisses casting rumours; says ‘We haven’t even started yet’

The hunt for the perfect face to portray the legendary Madhubala on the big screen remains wide open, despite a whirlwind of social media speculation. Casting director Mukesh Chhabra recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to react, dismissing reports that the lead role has been locked. Addressing the viral claims linking actors like Kiara Advani, Aneet Padda, and Sai Pallavi to the project, Chhabra sarcastically remarked that the team hasn't "even started yet."

Mukesh Chhabra addresses casting speculations

The much-talked-about biopic on 'Madhubala' continues to generate buzz, but casting director Mukesh Chhabra has now addressed the ongoing rumours. Mukesh Chhabra took to X (formerly Twitter) to react to reports claiming that the lead role had already been finalised. His response was sharp and sarcastic: “Oh wow, so Madhubala casting is already locked? Amazing. Meanwhile, I keep reading a new ‘final’ name every day… so I guess I must be casting for the wrong Madhubala biopic because we haven’t even started yet. #MadhubalaBiopic."

Kiara Advani reports called baseless

Among the many names doing the rounds, Kiara Advani was recently linked to the project. However, these claims have also been dismissed. According to a Hindustan Times report, there is no truth to the speculation: "There is absolutely no truth to the reports currently circulating about Kiara Advani being cast in a Madhubala biopic produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The claims are completely baseless and speculative."

Multiple names spark confusion online

Over the years, several actors have been linked to the biopic. Names like Aneet Padda and others have surfaced repeatedly. Each new report has claimed a ‘final’ casting decision, which has only added to the confusion among fans. Mukesh Chhabra’s latest reaction clearly reflects the situation and suggests that the rumours have been far from accurate.

Remembering Madhubala

Madhubala remains one of the most iconic stars of Hindi cinema. She began her acting career at a young age and her debut came at 14 with the film Nee Kamal in 1947. The film was a success. She later delivered one of her most memorable performances in Mughal-e-Azam alongside Dilip Kumar. Her final film 'Sharabi' released in 1964. She passed away in 1969 at the age of 36. The biopic is reportedly being helmed by Jasmeet K Reen who is known for directing 'Darlings' starring Alia Bhatt, Vijay Varma, and Shefali Shah.
