We're still a year away from 2026, but it is already shaping up to be a landmark year for cinema. At a time when the global film industry is already abuzz with excitement, with top filmmakers strategically securing release dates well in advance for some big-budget Hollywood films like 'Avengers: Doomsday' and 'The Batman 2', Bollywood seems to be following in their lead and pre-booking their release. Keen to avoid clashes with other film releases, everyone from Shah Rukh Khan's 'King' to Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Love and War' and Jr NTR's 'NTR 31' are all locking in their dates early for what promises to be a landmark year in cinema.

Those waiting to see Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan in action again on the big screen, might have to wait a tad longer as he has reportedly postponed the release of his movie 'King' to 2026. Originally slated for a release in 2025, the action flick has now booked Eid 2026 for its release. Also starring Suhana Khan in her big-screen debut, alongside Abhishek Bachchan, the film is expected to be one of the top contenders for box office wars in 2026.

Avengers: Doomsday

Marvel fans are counting down the days for 'Avengers: Doomsday', and its not hard to guess why. The film set to release in 2026, will bring back Robert Downey Jr to the MCU, not in his iconic role of Tony Stark/Iron Man, but as the supervillain Doctor Doom. Directed by the Russo Brothers, the fifth instalment in the 'Avengers' franchise, will bring together familiar heroes from the MCU and introduce new characters to face a catastrophic new threat. With a lot riding on this film, it is likely to dominate the global box office, and even rewrite records set by 'Avengers: Endgame'.

Love and War

Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali on Friday officially announced that his next romantic drama 'Love and War', starring Bollywood stars Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, and Vicky Kaushal has been postponed. The film which was initially eyeing a 2025 release, will now arrive in cinemas on March 20, 2026. The film which is set to give fans an epic love triangle unlike any other, is touted to be one of the highly anticipated movies of the year.

The Batman Part II

Following the success of 'The Batman' in 2022, director Matt Reeves returns with 'The Batman: Part II', starring Robert Pattinson as the spirit of vengeance. The film is expected to delve deeper into Bruce Wayne’s detective persona and his ongoing battle against Gotham's underworld. While the movie is still a year away from its release, fans of DC comics can look forward to the release of Colin Farrell's upcoming web series 'The Penguin' which is slated to drop later this year.
