Happy Birthday Amitabh Bachchan: 'Paa' to 'Piku' Big B's best movies in his second innings

Amitabh Bachchan becomes a year older, but the legendary actor’s charm and films continue to be evergreen. After the successful phase of ‘Angry Young Man,’ the actor reinvented himself to be an impeccable actor who grabs all the eyes and manages to win hearts with just his talent. Whether it’s a family drama or a topic that should be highlighted for society, the 83-year-old achieved great heights with his astute aura. Let’s take a look at Big B’s best films that came in the second innings!

2/6

'Pink'

‘NO means NO’ echoes through the hearts and minds when Bachchan’s firm stance helped deliver lines. Commenting on sexual harassment and abuse, the veteran actor challenged the ‘normalcy’ of society with his unwavering reaction as a lawyer. The Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury directorial questioned the intricacies when abuse of political power was associated with women’s abuse. Along with Bachchan, the 2016 film features Taapsee Pannu, Kriti Kulhari, Angad Bedi, Amit Baisoya, and more.

3/6

'Badla'

With the deception, the mastery, and the stakes to win, Amitabh Bachchan swiftly removes the mask of a mastermind woman who had placed all her countermoves. The 83-year-old actor, being a lawyer, turned out to be a genre – which he perfectly aced to the point. Directed by Sujay Ghosh, ‘Badla’ gained critical acclaim and mass applause for its excellent storytelling. Along with Bachchan, the 2019 film features Taapsee Pannu, Amrita Singh, Manav Kaul, and Tony Luke.

4/6

'Paa'

When Abhishek Bachchan played the father, and Amitabh Bachchan played his son, ‘Paa’ not only dropped jaws but stereotypes as well. The 2009 film revolved around a 12-year-old boy, Auro, who was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called Progeria. Bachchan’s prolific performance makes the audience shed tears all along the film, and more so at the end. Directed by R. Balki, the other cast members include Vidya Balan, Paresh Rawal, Arundhati Nag, and more.

5/6

'Black'

Chanelling tough love as a teacher, Amitabh Bachchan deserved all the awards for 'Best Actor' in a Leading Role for ‘Black.’ The complexity of the character, who teaches a visually challenged girl with hearing impairments, had a profound depth and impact not only on the audience but on society as a whole. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the actors Rani Mukerji and Bachchan put viewers in relentless pain by the end. The 2005 film featured Ayesha Kapur, Nandana Sen, and many more.

6/6

'Piku'

Amitabh Bachchan was obsessed with a hobby in ‘Piku,’ but his epic one-liners had the viewers rolling. The 83-year-old portrayed a character who might look pesky through others’ lenses, but after knowing him as a person over a period of 2 hours, you leave a piece of your heart for him. The classic story stays with you even after you see ‘The End’ because of Bachchan’s characterization. Directed by Shoojit Sarkar, the 2015 film features Deepika Padukone, Irrfan Khan, Moushumi Chatterjee, Jisshu Sengupta, and many more.
