'Thank you for biggest hit of my career': Ektaa Kapoor pens note for Priyadarshan after 'Bhooth Bangla's Rs 231 crore box office success

Producer Ektaa Kapoor has thanked filmmaker Priyadarshan for the box office success of the horror-comedy 'Bhooth Bangla', calling it the biggest hit of her career. The Akshay Kumar starrer crossed Rs 231 crore worldwide, becoming one of 2026's biggest Bollywood box office successes.Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, Ektaa Kapoor shared a series of selfies with Priyadarshan alongside a heartfelt note. She wrote, "I was working with a man who was doing his 100th film… The world expected fireworks when two headstrong people like us came together, but what they didn't see was the deep-rooted mutual respect that defined our journey. I don't think I've had more fun working with anyone than @priyadarshan.official." Ektaa revealed a telling detail about Priyadarshan's work philosophy. She wrote, "The first thing he asked me was, 'Ekta, are you making money on this film? I don't work on a film if my producer doesn't make money'."She added that this rare belief system immediately gave her confidence, saying she knew "the company's money and the film were both in the right hands."Ektaa also acknowledged that the collaboration wasn't without friction but maintained it remained constructive throughout. Couldn't be more grateful." 'Bhooth Bangla' reunited Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan after more than a decade, following earlier hits like 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa' and 'Hera Pheri'. The film also features Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Wamiqa Gabbi, Rajpal Yadav, and Mithila Palkar. Despite mixed critical reviews, audience response was strong, pushing the film past Rs 150 crore domestically. The success also made Akshay Kumar the only Indian actor to have 20 films in the Rs 100 crore club.
