The upcoming sequel ‘Dhurandhar 2’ is already creating excitement, not just for its action-packed narrative but also for its energetic soundtrack. Among the standout contributors is Meghalaya-born rapper Reble, whose growing popularity is adding a fresh edge to the film’s music. Although her presence isn’t highlighted in the trailer visuals, she confirmed that she features on the track ‘Aari Aari,’ sharing space with artists like Navtej Singh Rehal, Jasmine Sandlas, Khan Saab, and Sudhir Yaduvanshi.
A powerful collaboration behind ‘Aari Aari’
The song ‘Ari Ari’ has been composed and arranged by
Shashwat Sachdev, with lyrics by Irshad Kamil and Bombay Rockers. As the track gains traction online, Reble is also taking her music to live audiences. She recently performed at the well-known NH7 Weekender, where she showcased her genre-blending style to a large crowd, further expanding her reach beyond film music.
Reble, who was earlier known as Daia Lamare, traced her creative instincts back to her upbringing in Meghalaya. Reflecting on her personality, she shared with NDTV, “I was always a rebellious kid and it's just my nature.” She also spoke about how social hierarchies during her childhood influenced her perspective. “Growing up, we had a lot of biases depending on how much money your parents made; a lot of us came from middle-class backgrounds, trying to fit in. This classism definitely angered me.”
That sense of frustration eventually found an outlet in music, leading to her debut single ‘Bad’ (2019). Looking back at her early work, she said, “Bad was my first single, and it's a terrible song tbh, but it was a start, and I'm proud of myself for trying early on.” The track marked the beginning of her journey, setting the stage for future opportunities.
Rapper Reble's engineering dreams to music reality
Before stepping into the music industry, Reble had a completely different career path in mind. “I thought I was going to work an engineering job after college and I was preparing for my entrance exams,” she said, adding, “I was damn sure I was gonna crack it and land the typical job that most people crave.” However, things took a different turn. “However, life took a turn and offered me something with more flexibility, and that is having a career in music. I like being my own person and not having an authority asking me to do something.”
Her transition into music eventually led to projects like ‘Dhurandhar 2’ and ‘Lokah Chapter 1’, which she described as significant milestones. “The movies gave me a massive push, and these projects are very personal to me.”
Talking about her creative approach, Reble explained how instinct plays a key role in her process. “I trust my feelings and my peers' opinions. That's how I know it's ready.” Her music blends multiple genres, reflecting the diverse influences she grew up with and her willingness to experiment with sound.
Reble opens up about racism
Reble also spoke about the issue of racism faced by people from India’s Northeast. “I've never faced severe cases of racism, but my NE brothers and sisters definitely have, and it definitely affects me emotionally,” she said. She further added, “I think there's unnecessary hate towards one another in my country, and I hope people unite as one so we can progress. On the bright side, the situation has improved over the years, and I think the youth will take it in the right direction.”
Referring to a recent incident, she said, “That incident made me really upset,” and added, “Thinking about how many people had to go through this without receiving any justice makes me even more upset.” She also pointed out, “Now we can take this to social media, but what about undocumented cases? What about those from the past who suffered before social media?”
