Bhagyashree: The moment you land in Goa, you feel lighter
Bhagyashree preferred to step into the new year at an unhurried pace. Goa, with its beaches, conversations and shared moments with loved ones, became her chosen setting to welcome the New Year, a tradition that has evolved naturally over time and now holds deep personal meaning.
What makes Goa particularly special for her is the ease it offers when it comes to togetherness. She says, “The end of one year and the beginning of another is always filled with conversations, aspirations, promises and commitments. It feels important to share that space with people who truly matter to you.” Travelling as a group, she feels, becomes far simpler when everyone is aligned. “We could choose any destination, but coordinating an entire group becomes difficult. Goa is easy, familiar, and relaxed. It keeps things simple and stress-free,” she adds.
After a year filled with travel and work commitments, the calm of Goa feels especially restorative. She shares, “There is something incredibly soothing about the place. The moment you land, you feel lighter, as though the space absorbs your stress and slows you down. The beaches, the sea, and the overall vibe help you reconnect with yourself. It is rejuvenating, not just physically but mentally, which makes it the perfect place to pause before stepping into a new year.”
Her days there follow a gentle rhythm. “I love starting my mornings with walks on the beach. Watching children play in the sand and build sandcastles creates such a warm, family atmosphere,” she says, adding that evenings are reserved for soaking in the view, “And of course, there are the sunsets. They never lose their charm.”

She shares, “Until our children were about 15 or 16, every New Year was spent with them. As they grew older and began making their own plans with friends, our lives also evolved. Around the same time, a close group of friends, mostly couples, started travelling to Goa together. Slowly, it became a ritual.” For her, the idea has never been about loud parties or excess. “It is more about unwinding, spending quality time with each other and discovering new restaurants and experiences. We usually stay for three to four days and return soon after New Year,” she says. After a year filled with travel and work commitments, the calm of Goa feels especially restorative.
