'Sholay: The Final Cut’ box office collection day 4: Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini starrer iconic hit makes over Rs 1.50 amid the huge buzz of Ranveer Singh's 'Dhurandhar'

Bollywood’s iconic film, ‘Sholay’ starring late actor Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini and others, has made its re-entry in a grand way. The film is re-released in 70MM with a restored 4K version as ‘Sholay - The Final Cut’. Hiting the big screens on December 12, the film is on its fourth day collected Rs 15 lakh in the market as Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar’ kept a strong grip.

As per a report by trade analyst Sanilk, the film minted over Rs 30 lakh on the opening day. The next day, it went on to collect Rs 50 lakh and made Rs 60 lakh on the third day. Yesterday, on Monday, December 15, the film made Rs 15 lakh as per the early estimates, bringing the total to Rs 1.55 crore at the box office.

‘Sholay: The Final Cut’ marks the return of the 1975 blockbuster 'Sholay', re-released for its 50th anniversary. Directed by Ramesh Sippy, this version restores the original uncut ending. The film, featuring Bachchan, Sanjeev Kumar, and the unforgettable Amjad Khan as the menacing Gabbar Singh, has been released across 1,500 screens in the country.

About ‘Sholay’

Written by the iconic writing duo Salim-Javed, the film tells the story of a retired police officer, Thakur Baldev Singh, who hires short-time crooks Jai and Veeru to capture the ruthless dacoit Gabbar Singh. He asks them to catch him, for seeking his revenge after Gabbar Singh severed Thakur's arms after murdering his family. The film included brotherhood, vengeance, drama, and comedy in the village of Ramgarh.
